The Institute of Internal Auditors of Haiti (IIA-Haïti) brought together professionals from about 20 institutions in Pétion-Ville on October 28 and 29 for a seminar on managing the risks tied to the country's new tax code, Le National reported.
The code, which has more than 500 articles, came into force on October 1. Dozens of participants from the public sector, financial institutions, non-governmental organizations and other fields attended the two days of discussions on how it will be applied.
The sessions were led by Professor Joseph Paillant and by Ivens Roche, director of the large taxpayers office (DGC) of the General Tax Directorate (DGI).
Jean Bouco Jean-Jacques, a director at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, called it “a fine initiative” and said it would help lawyers, accountants, human resources managers and finance directors better understand the new rules.
