The Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) is on a mission in the South department from October 30 to November 4 to help families hit by the recent storms in the Grand Sud, HaitiLibre reported on Monday.

The mission plans to set up three community kitchens and hand out 10,000 food kits to the most vulnerable households, the outlet said.

Heavy rain in late October flooded thousands of homes across the southern peninsula, and several people died or went missing in the South and Southeast. Nippes was the hardest-hit department by number of flooded homes.

The FAES, a state agency, also runs the school-subsidy cash transfers paid to families this fall.
