The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications held a workshop on Thursday, October 29, on planning Haiti's electricity sector, built around a 2027–2032 roadmap to widen access to reliable, sustainable power, Le Nouvelliste reported.

The ministry organized the meeting with the Ministry of Economy and Finance's technical implementation unit (UTE) and the national energy regulator, ANARSE. Discussions centered on the national energy development plan.

According to a ministry statement cited by the newspaper, the plan calls for six regional power grids, mini-grids and standalone solar systems, 250,000 new connections and a 60% electricity access rate. The investment needed is estimated at $5.7 billion to $5.9 billion.

Public Works Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis was pictured at the workshop. The report did not say how the plan would be financed.
