The Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince plans to resume its art classes and creative workshops in February 2027, after a pause of nearly two years in the West department caused by worsening insecurity, HaitiLibre reported on October 30.

The programs it will offer are due to be announced in December 2026, as part of a relaunch of its artistic training.

Created in 1944 and recognized as an institution of public interest in 1947, the Centre d'Art is based on rue Roy in Port-au-Prince. Its website describes it as a true melting pot of the visual arts in Haiti, with collections that reflect Haitian society from the 1940s to today.

Its courses have covered drawing, painting, sculpture from recycled materials, photography and video, alongside artist residencies and a film program. The centre says it rescued its collections and archives and is reorganizing them so the public can consult them again. Painters featured on its site include Philomé Obin, Tiga and Killy.
