The signatories of Haiti's National Pact have called for the first round of elections to be held in the first half of 2027 and for the whole electoral process to be completed before the end of that year, Vant Bèf Info reported.

At a press conference in Delmas 69 on Friday, October 30, the Assembly of signatories for the consolidation and implementation of the National Pact said “the Haitian people cannot be deprived indefinitely of their right to choose their leaders.” It said the transition must remain temporary.

The group asked the Provisional Electoral Council to quickly publish a realistic, detailed calendar covering candidate processing, preliminary and final lists, challenges and appeals, ballot printing, staff training and the campaign period. The calendar “must not become a document continually revised without concrete results,” it said.

The signatories voiced reservations about any move to extend the transition indefinitely or open a new transitional period without a clear path back to constitutional order. They also asked the government to coordinate public agencies and mobilize resources, and encouraged cooperation with the UN office BINUH while respecting the council's autonomy.

The electoral council's revised calendar, published October 28, sets the first round of the presidential and legislative elections for July 18, 2027.
