Future officers of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd'H) could be trained in Benin's military schools, the Haitian Defense Ministry said in a statement on November 3, Vant Bèf Info reported. The opening came during a working visit to Benin by the FAd'H commander in chief, General Derby Guerrier, who asked for help training the army's cadres.

Benin's chief of the general staff, Lieutenant General Fructueux Gbaguidi, responded favorably and said the country's military schools could take in future Haitian officers. The ministry said the cooperation should encourage “the transfer of knowledge and the sharing of experience” between the two armies.

The agreement is only in principle for now. The number of soldiers involved, the courses offered, the admission conditions and the start date have not been announced.
