El Salvador's foreign minister, Alexandra Hill Tinoco, assured her Haitian counterpart, Raina Forbin, on Tuesday, November 3, that her country intends to keep supporting Haiti, including through the Gang Suppression Force, Le Nouvelliste reported. The two ministers met in Madrid on the sidelines of the 30th Ibero-American Summit of heads of state and government.

According to the newspaper, they discussed stronger security cooperation and the fight against armed gangs, sharing experience in combating organized crime, protecting children exposed to gang influence, and disarmament, demobilization and reintegration programs.

The Salvadoran minister reaffirmed that support despite an attack that targeted four members of El Salvador's contingent. The four went missing after a gang ambush, and El Salvador has since sent more than 2,000 troops to Haiti to search for them, according to UN News.

Forbin is taking part in the Ibero-American Summit on Haiti's behalf, Le Nouvelliste reported.
