Cité Soleil's municipal authorities have asked Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to step in to help the commune before the end of December, Vant Bèf Info reported.

The appeal came on Monday, November 2, during a Gede celebration at the Drouillard cemetery held under the theme “Ann selebre lavi nan lanmò ak Gede yo” (Let's celebrate life in death with the Gede). Municipal councilor Johny Lundy said residents would rather “celebrate life in life.”

Lundy asked the state to repair the Soleil 4 bridge and to clear piles of garbage that he said make the air unhealthy. He also called for more voter registration offices, proposing the Lycée national de Cité Soleil, Duvivier, Don Bosco and Sainte-Anne as sites.

Local officials say the commune has been sliding steadily, with insecurity sharply worse since 2022, and that limited support from the central government leaves the town hall unable to meet residents' needs. The report did not name the mayor or give casualty figures.
