Haitians living in Canada can now apply for Haiti's National Identification Card (CIN) at the Embassy of Haiti in Ottawa and at the Consulate General in Montreal, the embassy announced, iciHaiti reported on November 3.

Applicants can book an appointment on the embassy's website, ambcanada.gouv.ht, or come in person and wait in line. On the day of the appointment, they fill out an application form at the mission and bring archive extracts of their birth certificate and their baptism certificate.

The embassy will contact applicants when their card is ready to be picked up. According to the notice, the consulate handles both first cards and renewals for members of the diaspora.

The embassy is located at 85 Albert Street, Suite 1110, in Ottawa. The national ID card is Haiti's official identity document.
