More than 700 women received free care during a Pink October campaign run by the women's organization Mouvman Fanm Vizyonè Dayiti (MOFAVIDA), Vant Bèf Info reported.
From October 26 to 30, the campaign offered medical consultations and preventive exams against breast and cervical cancer at five sites: Delmas, Pétion-Ville, Cité Soleil, Port-au-Prince and Carrefour. An on-site pharmacy handed out prescribed medicines free of charge.
More than fifty women also received psychological support. Dr. Toussaint Laguerre, the organization's medical head, stressed the need to strengthen health and social support for women.
Awareness, prevention and access to care must remain priorities, the organization said as the campaign closed on Friday.
