Roobens Dalton Victor, a student at the Faculty of Law and Economics of the State University of Haiti, has won the first edition of Génie Bongù, a youth competition held in Carrefour, Vant Bèf Info reported on Monday.

The contest began on July 18 with 40 participants and ran in three phases before a final on October 23. The winner, who is from Carrefour, thanked the Visionnaires team, the Hakuna group and the Carrefour youth who organize similar contests and debates.

He said he accepted the distinction “with great pride” and saw it as encouragement for young people who still believe in school, especially in Carrefour. He called the young people who keep studying despite daily dangers “heroes.”

“Keep believing in school, keep learning, keep training,” he told his peers.
