Education Minister Vijonet Déméro chaired the second and final day of the 12th Inter-American Meeting of Ministers of Education in Quito, Ecuador, on Thursday, October 29, Le Nouvelliste reported, citing a statement from his ministry.
The meeting, convened by the Organization of American States, discussed the resilience of education systems, the use of digital technology, democratic participation and lifelong learning. Its aim was to set regional priorities, share good practices and find new ways to cooperate on education.
The meeting came as Haiti's planning minister told UNESCO the same day that insecurity is closing and destroying schools and displacing families, and asked for help keeping classes running.
