As Haiti marks 100 years of radio broadcasting, engineer Fritz Joassin, who helped install several of the country's radio and television stations, was the guest of Magik 9's “Panel Magik” program on Monday, October 26, Le Nouvelliste reported.
His broadcasting career goes back to 1976. Fresh out of a university in Chicago, he was working with Harris Corporation, the firm that had won a contract from the Haitian state to design and install Radio Nationale d'Haïti, the newspaper said.
The centenary recalls HHK, the station that brought radio to Haiti a hundred years ago.
