The presidential candidacy of Jean Ernest Muscadin, the government commissioner (chief prosecutor) of Miragoâne, has been ruled inadmissible, Le Nouvelliste and Juno7 reported on Thursday, October 29.

According to the reports, his file could not be accepted at the Departmental Electoral Office of the West 1 because documents were missing, including his letter of resignation as government commissioner of Miragoâne.

Muscadin, a well-known figure in the Nippes department, entered the race at the end of September. Thousands of people have marched in Miragoâne in support of him, Le Nouvelliste has reported.

The articles did not include comments from Muscadin or from electoral officials. The Provisional Electoral Council's revised calendar, published October 28, sets the first round of the presidential and legislative elections for July 18, 2027.
