Canada is extending its temporary immigration measures for Haitian nationals who cannot return home, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said in a notice dated October 27 in Ottawa.

The previous measures were due to expire on October 27, 2026. The extended measures now run until December 30, 2027. To use them, people must hold a valid work permit issued under the earlier Haiti measures; they can apply to extend that permit and will pay standard processing fees.

Haitians who want to extend visitor status or a study permit must apply through IRCC's regular channels. The same notice also covers separate measures for Sudanese nationals.

IRCC says more details are on its page about the Haiti measures.
