Digicel Haiti says its fiber-optic network is cut about 20 times a week on average, and on Friday, October 30, it asked the authorities to better protect telecommunications infrastructure across the country, Le Nouvelliste reported.

In a press release, the company said insecurity is disrupting its network and making it harder for its technicians to reach damaged lines and repair them. The appeal came three days after what the company called a major disruption.

The company did not say where the cuts happen most often, and Le Nouvelliste's report did not include a response from the authorities.
