Planning and External Cooperation Minister Sandra Paulemon met UNESCO's representative in Haiti, Eric Voli Bi, on Thursday, October 29, at the ministry to review the agency's priorities in the country, Juno7 reported.
Paulemon proposed an updated dashboard of all UNESCO projects in Haiti and asked that they be aligned with the government's 2026–2030 national stabilization and economic, social and territorial recovery program (PNSREST). With insecurity closing and destroying schools and displacing families, she called for responses that keep classes running and protect school buildings, and asked that cultural programs create more jobs and income, especially for women and young people.
Voli Bi proposed a study of Haiti's readiness for artificial intelligence, including ethics and data protection, training for public servants, support for managing social change and micro-science kits for schools. He cited a school in Anse-d'Hainault, in the Grand'Anse, set up with UNESCO support.
Haiti has been a UNESCO member since 1946. The two officials will keep working on the list of projects for fiscal year 2026–2027.
