Several gang members were killed on Thursday, October 29, in a police operation in Bercy, an area between Arcahaie and Cabaret north of Port-au-Prince, Le Nouvelliste reported. Among them was the leader of the Cabaret gang, known as “Galaxie.”

The Haitian National Police carried out the operation with support from the Task Force. A local source told the newspaper that surviving gang members fled, raising tension in several nearby areas.

Le National reported that the police are also pressing offensives in Gressier and in the commune of Kenscoff, with support from the Armed Forces of Haiti. The units involved include departmental operations brigades (BOID), the temporary anti-gang unit (UTAG), departmental crowd-control units (UDMO) and the Task Force. The police say they entered an area known as “103 Zombi,” described as a gang stronghold.

According to the police, the goal is to dismantle gang bases, restore security and let displaced residents return home. The reports did not give a full toll of the operations.
