Government officials, United Nations representatives and local elected officials met on Thursday, October 29, at the West Departmental Directorate on the Champ-de-Mars to discuss a project to stabilize and reclaim downtown Port-au-Prince, Le Nouvelliste reported.
Xavier Michon, the resident representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) in Haiti, presented the project, called AVANSE. According to the newspaper, the meeting was held with the goal of gradually restoring the state's presence in the capital.
The freely available part of the article did not give the project's funding, budget or timeline, or say exactly which neighborhoods it will cover.
