Professor Yves Barthélemy of the State University of Haiti's Faculty of Human Sciences (FASCH) died on Saturday, October 24, the faculty announced, Le Nouvelliste reported on Tuesday, October 27.

Barthélemy taught the introductory economics course and served as the faculty's secretary general for almost twenty years. In its notice, FASCH praised his seriousness, his sense of responsibility and his strong involvement in the institution's development.

The faculty declared a day of mourning on Wednesday, October 28. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
