The San Diego-based Haitian Bridge Alliance (HBA) on Monday, October 26, renewed its call for the Trump administration to stop deporting Haitians and urged the U.S. Senate to restore Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for more than 300,000 Haitians, Caribbean Life reported.
The group's executive director, Guerline Jozef, said deportations were continuing at a steady pace, with the latest reported on October 22. She pointed to nearly 1.5 million internally displaced people in Haiti and to the State Department's own Level 4 “Do Not Travel” warning. “Haitian lives are not disposable,” she said.
Haiti's TPS and work authorization ended on July 27, 2026. The House passed a bill in April to extend TPS for Haitians, and a Senate bill, S. 4814, introduced by Senators Edward Markey and Lisa Blunt Rochester, has 46 cosponsors but has not been passed, according to the article.
