The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) is sending mobile teams of voter-registry agents to workplaces and businesses to sign up citizens who hold a national identification card, Le Nouvelliste reported on Monday, October 26.
In a note to public institutions and private companies, the CEP said several managers had already agreed to host the teams, which belong to its electoral registry directorate, Juno7 reported. The goal is to add more citizens to the voter list without making them travel to a registration office. Voters can freely choose their voting center when they register.
The note did not give dates, locations or targets for the operation. The council, in office since October 18, 2024, has now passed two years without organizing an election, Le Nouvelliste noted in a separate article, and it still cannot announce a date for the next vote.
