Haitian-Quebec writer Dany Laferrière is the 2026 laureate of the Prix Athanase-David, which honors his remarkable contribution to Quebec literature, Le Nouvelliste reported on October 27.
Laferrière's career spans about four decades, and his work has been translated into some 20 languages. He was elected to the Académie française in 2013 and took his seat in 2015, becoming the first Quebecer to join it.
Le Nouvelliste describes the novelist, essayist and illustrator as a major presence in French-language literature.
