Public Works Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis inspected the rehabilitation of Boulevard 15 Octobre with ministry engineers and officials to check on progress and on compliance with the ministry's standards, iciHaïti reported on Friday, October 23.

The roadway will be built in hydraulic concrete so that it can better withstand heavy traffic and bad weather, the ministry said.

The minister praised the use of local workers. The ministry said it gives priority to hiring people from the area so that nearby communities share in public projects and get direct jobs.

To limit traffic jams during the day, most of the work will be done at night. The ministry thanked drivers and residents for their patience during the disruption.
