Haiti's women's national team lost 7-1 to Australia on Tuesday, October 13, at the Stade Walter-Luzi in Chambly, France, closing a difficult October window with two heavy defeats.
Melchie Dumornay, known as Corventina, gave Haitian fans a moment of joy in the third minute. She equalized with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, from a pass by Anyssa Ibrahim, a minute after Leticia McKenna had put Australia ahead.
McKenna scored again in the 44th minute. After the break, defender Kethna Louis deflected the ball into her own net in the 53rd minute, and Caitlin Foord, Daniela Galić, Clare Wheeler and Holly McNamara added goals for the Matildas, who are ranked 15th in the world.
Coach Pia Sundhage started the same eleven players who lost 5-1 to Japan on October 9.
The friendlies were meant to test the Grenadières, ranked 47th, against two of the world's best teams before the match that matters most: a continental quarterfinal against Mexico on November 28 in the United States. A win there would send Haiti directly to the 2027 Women's World Cup in Brazil.
