The National School Canteen Program (PNCS) took French Ambassador Gauthier Lekens, World Food Programme Haiti director Lauren Landis and other partners to Camp-Perrin, in the South, to visit the Organization for the Rehabilitation of the Environment (ORE), HaitiLibre reported on Friday, October 23.
The visit is part of an in-kind agreement signed between the PNCS and the French Embassy on September 15. ORE, a Haitian non-governmental organization founded in 1985, supplies the embassy's school feeding initiative under a collaboration worth more than $700,000 for the 2026-2027 school year, serving schools in the Nippes, the South, the Grand'Anse and the Les Palmes region.
ORE's director general, agronomist Patrick Condé, showed the delegation the equipment it uses to process local crops, especially corn. The PNCS, led by general coordinator Lucson Philemond, says school meals should not be just food handouts but a way to create markets for farmers, grow food processing and support rural communities.
