Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) plans to publish a revised electoral calendar before the end of October, Le Nouvelliste reported on Tuesday, October 20. The goal is to avoid extending candidate registration for a fourth time.
The council has been meeting the government, the heads of the public security forces, international partners, political actors and civil society. By Tuesday evening, the consultations had covered nearly every sector of the country, the newspaper said.
Candidate registration has already been extended three times and now closes on October 31.
