A group of Haitian jurists launched the Haitian Academy of Intellectual Property on Thursday, October 22, at the Karibe Hotel, Le Nouvelliste reported.
The academy presents itself as a training and research space for people who create, invent and start businesses, with the aim of better protecting their works and innovations.
Commerce and Industry Minister James Monazard and Culture and Communication Minister Emmanuel Ménard attended the launch. Both called for modernizing a legal framework that technology has left behind.
