The Professional Association of Magistrates (APM) has again raised the alarm over a severe shortage of court clerks, warning that Haiti's justice system could grind to a halt, Le Nouvelliste reported on October 22.

The clerks' offices of the courts of first instance are struggling, the association said, and the shortage is weighing on the work of magistrates.

The APM called on the Ministry of Justice to recruit clerks and assign them urgently to the courts that are hardest hit.
