Haitian star Melchie Dumornay of OL Lyonnes is among the nominees for the women's Ballon d'Or, which will be awarded on Monday, October 26, in London. It is the first time since 2019 that the ceremony has been held outside Paris's Théâtre du Châtelet; this year it moves to the London Palladium.
Dumornay, known as Corventina, is on a list of 30 players that also includes Pernille Harder, Khadija Shaw, Alexia Putellas and Alessia Russo, according to Sports Illustrated's list of nominees.
Le Nouvelliste calls her a rising Haitian talent whose value keeps climbing in Europe. The paper has also reported that she reached 30 goals for Haiti and was named September's player of the month in France's top women's league.
Earlier this month, Dumornay scored Haiti's only goal in a 7-1 loss to Australia in Chambly, France.
