Jocelerme Privert, a former interim president of Haiti, has filed his candidacy for the presidency with the Departmental Electoral Office of the West (BED Ouest), Juno7 reported. He filed on Monday, October 19.
He is running under the Ayiti Transfòme banner, which the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) assigned number 91, with the backing of the Fusion of Haitian Social Democrats. He names security, justice and the revival of national production as the pillars of his platform, along with restoring public authority, opening opportunities for young people and rebuilding trust between citizens and institutions.
Privert said no single leader or party can transform the country alone and called for uniting the nation's forces. He asked supporters to run a disciplined, respectful and calm campaign and urged citizens to register on the electoral lists.
Filing does not mean the CEP has validated his candidacy. Candidate registration is open until October 31.
