Members of the Gran Grif gang attacked Chandelle, a locality between the communes of Verrettes and Liancourt in the Artibonite, during the night of Thursday, October 22, to Friday, October 23, Le Nouvelliste and HaitiLibre reported.

Several people were injured, according to initial reports, and rice storage warehouses were set on fire. No official toll had been released.

The attack came days after armed groups struck nearby Petite-Rivière de l'Artibonite. Police said they had since regained control there and removed the barricades gangs had used to block roads, HaitiLibre reported. The Artibonite is under a state of emergency until December 18.
