Haiti's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC) inaugurated on Wednesday, October 21, a conference room named the “Espace Lucienne Heurtelou Estimé,” in memory of the country's first woman ambassador, Le Nouvelliste reported.
Foreign Minister Raina Forbin led the ceremony at the Chancellery, in the presence of members of the Estimé family and diplomatic representatives. The ministry describes the room as a place of memory, dialogue and inspiration.
Forbin said Heurtelou Estimé had opened the way for generations of women. Her daughter, Régine Estimé, thanked the ministry and spoke of education as a path to emancipation.
Lucienne Heurtelou Estimé is remembered as a pioneer of Haitian diplomacy.
