Haiti's National Police has added 2,069 new officers, including 394 women, from its 35th and 36th graduating classes, one year after the launch of the P4000+ program to recruit more than 4,000 officers.
The 37th class, the program's third cohort, is due to graduate at the end of October.
Most of the new officers have been deployed in the West department, where they help secure strategic sites, critical infrastructure and key roads, and support units in security operations.
The program is funded by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. The 2026-2027 budget also provides for it as part of a 73 billion gourde allocation for security and defense.
