Haiti's first-division football championship, known this season as the Paryaj Lakay championship, will kick off its second edition on November 8, the Haitian Football League announced on Sunday, October 11, after an extraordinary meeting.

Twelve clubs will take part: Violette AC, FICA, Tempête FC, Racing FC, America des Cayes, FC Juventus, Don Bosco FC of Pétion-Ville, Racing Club Haïtien, Ouanaminthe FC, AS Capoise, Real Hope FA and AS Cavaly.

The list spans the country, from Port-au-Prince and Pétion-Ville to Cap-Haïtien, Les Cayes, Ouanaminthe and Saint-Marc. The league said the full schedule and match arrangements would be announced soon.

The official league has struggled since insecurity grew in 2019, with interruptions, unpaid referees and travel problems, while summer “vacation” tournaments have drawn many players with better pay.

Violette AC gave Haitian club football a lift in September by becoming the first Haitian club to top a group in the Concacaf Caribbean Cup.
