Haiti beat Costa Rica 2-0 on Sunday, September 27, at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica, making it two wins from two in the Concacaf Nations League under new coach David Badía.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde gave the Grenadiers the lead in the ninth minute with a right-footed finish. Haiti doubled the advantage in the 39th minute when Costa Rica defender Francisco Calvo put the ball into his own net.

Haiti controlled the opening stages and protected the lead through the second half for a clean sheet, three days after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Trinidad and Tobago in which Garven Metusala and Wilson Isidor scored in stoppage time.

Costa Rica, one of the region's traditional powers, has now lost both of its Group A games after a 4-3 defeat to Curaçao in its opener.

Haiti, Curaçao and the Dominican Republic all won their first two matches. Curaçao routed Nicaragua 6-1, and the Dominican Republic came from behind to beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-1. Only the top two teams in the six-team group advance to the quarterfinals.

The win continues a remarkable year for Haitian football. Badía, a Spanish coach, took charge in August after Haiti played in its first World Cup since 1974.
