Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council is recruiting more electoral security agents and departmental and municipal supervisors in all 10 departments, its director general, Louder Antoine, announced on October 19.
Security agent applicants must be Haitian, aged 21 to 50, hold at least the ninth-grade certificate and live in the commune concerned. Supervisors must be 25 to 50, hold a secondary diploma (NS IV) and live in the department or commune where they apply. Both need a national ID card, two recent photos, a recent certificate of good conduct and a phone number.
Applications are accepted at departmental and communal electoral offices from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Incomplete files will be rejected. Previous experience in an election is a major asset, and the council encourages women to apply. Training for selected agents is scheduled for October 23 to 25.
The council is also pushing voter registration. On October 16, a team toured the Camp-Perrin market, Cavaillon and Les Cayes in the South with brochures and a sound truck. More than 849,000 voters had registered as of October 18.
