More than 733,000 Haitians have registered to vote, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) says. Its statistics count 733,100 voters registered between April 7 and noon on October 2.

That is about 104,000 more than the 628,755 the council reported on September 21, but it remains a small share of the country's adults. Voter registration continues, and the council is urging eligible citizens to complete the process.

The candidate list is also growing. Deus Deronneth, a former deputy for Marigot in the Southeast, registered on October 3 as a presidential candidate for the party Visionary Democrats for a New Haiti (DVNH).

On October 5, the Council of Ministers examined new changes to the electoral decree of June 2. The government has not said which articles are affected, the news site HaitiLibre reported. The same day, the CEP extended candidate registration to October 31 and postponed the campaign period.

The first round is still scheduled for December 13. According to HaitiLibre, a referendum on changes to the Constitution is planned for the same day. The council says it will publish an updated calendar as soon as possible.
